The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon

The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 26.2 miles usually run as a road race.

I have entered into the Yorkshire Marathon, this being the finale event, taking place on Saturday 8th October 2017.

The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon has quickly established itself as one of the highlights of the White Rose County’s sporting year. This popular and picturesque run, with fantastic PB potential, takes participants past some of York’s splendid historic sites and along scenic country lanes, making it an attractive prospect for runners of all abilities. Having never entered into a Marathon before and being one of my bucket list; I am very excited to be taking this challenge on.

Described by the Daily Mirror as the ‘Number 1 Alternative to London’.

In 2015, The oldest women to ever finish a marathon race was at the age of 92; her name was Harriette Thompson who finished the San Diego Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon in 7:24:36.

Sheffield Half Marathon & Leeds Half Marathon

half marathon is a road running event of 13.1miles– half the distance of a marathon.

The Plusnet Leeds Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday 14th May 2017. This event celebrates its 32nd anniversary – is firmly established as one of the highlights on Leeds’ sporting calendar thanks to its challenging course, enthusiastic crowds and fantastic atmosphere.

In 2015, The Plusnet Sheffield Marathon joined the world stage alongside Leeds in giving runners picturesque scenery, monstrous hills and great Yorkshire hospitality. This event is on: Sunday 9th April 2017.

The youngest marathon runner is Budhia Singh who started training at age 3 and completed 50 marathons before he reached the age of 4.
